The production version of the Lincoln MKC Compact SUV (pictured) has been revealed
When Ford divested itself of its premier marques – Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover – it left it with little wriggle room to compete in anything but the mainstream car market. Ford in Europe is trying to address that by launching ‘Vignale’ badged cars which promise to offer more ‘Premium quality’ than its mainstream models, and Ford in the US is doing the same thing by trying to reinvent the Lincoln badge as the answer to German premium models. Step forward the new Lincoln MKC, the production version of the Lincoln MKC Concept we saw at the Detroit Auto Show in January..
The 2012 Mercedes F1 car will be at Edinburgh’s Race the Runway 2014 event
In 2013, Mercedes decided to cough up sponsorship to help the Race the Runway event at Edinburgh Airport, and it must have been a success as Mercedes are back again as event sponsors. The Race the Runway event is an opportunity for car owners to blat their cars down the runway at Edinburgh Airport and generate cash for a worthy cause – the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow. Participants have to cough up a £300 donation to the charity to get the chance to see what their car can do, for which they get a free lunch as well as the thrill of flat-out driving on the runway, and can even bring a passenger along.

Is this man a genius? You have to hope so because he’s designed half the tracks on this year’s Formula One calendar; and cars, irrespective of their performance, are only as spectacular as the tracks around which they’re racing. Monaco is utterly captivating, Bahrain less so – you get the idea.
